So Long Winter, Hello Cabin Fever

Its that time of year again, winter begins to wind down, and we start gettin’ that itch for spring. In order to help you cope, we’re brewing our Cabin Fever Maple Porter. A Robust Porter, brewed with local maple syrup. We will be tapping it within the next few weeks!

In an on going effort to fight Cabin Fever, we will soon be releasing a few new and seasonal beers. Frosty’s Winter Ale will be on tap soon to warm you up with its spices and hint of vanilla bean. Make sure to stop in to try Hoity Toity Stout, a robust American stout that is naturally carbonated with brown sugar to give it a slightly sweeter taste. Last but not least: We will be tapping four new Red Ales that range from malty to hoppy. Let us know what you think of them! Cheers!!

New Brews!!!

Stop by the pub to try two of our newest beers! We are currently pouring the Red Rooster Espresso Stout, a malty American Stout brewed with Red Rooster Espresso from Ithaca Coffee Company. We will also have the “Rooster-Wagon Belgian Agave” on tap periodically throughout the fall. This Belgian Ale is a collaboration between the Bandwagon and the great brewers at Rooster Fish Brewing. This brew features a subtly sweet malt character which is enhanced by Raw Agave Nectar which we added to the secondary. Stop down and give both these brews a shot, we’ll see you at the pub. Cheers!

The new “Pop’s Session Ale” joins the BWB team!

We just tapped the newest beer of the BWB beer line up. Stop in to try the “Pop’s Session Ale” This beer is an American Blonde Ale brewed Centennial and Cascade hops from Pompey Mountain Hop Farm (Syracuse). These local hops provide a crisp hop flavor and aroma. A touch of Munich, Caramel, and Honey malts gives this brew a smooth and slightly sweet malt character. Come on down, give it a try, and raise a pint to all the great Pops out there!

Welcome back students and our fall seasonal beers!

We have to admit it eventually… summer is coming to an end. To make the transition easier, we’re starting to brew our fall seasonal beers. Our Strawberry Cream Ale is stepping aside and making way for the Raspberry Jalapeno and all of its fruity and spicy glory! Keep an eye on the website for our current tap selection (updated daily) and to find out about all the other spots around Ithaca to get a BWB pint. We’ve got a few surprises coming up for the fall, as they come out we’ll update the blog and facebook!

Rasperry Haban-Peno – the beloved Raspberry Jalapeno, packing an extra punch of spiciness from habanero peppers!

Batch 0800- Our 800^th batch! Commemorated by the creation of a chocolate stout

C’est l’sour – A sour Belgian Ale based on our C’est L’amor

Late bloomer IPA – a hoppy IPA with only aroma and flavor hop additions

Black IPA- a dark India Pale Ale. Logical? No. Delicious? Yes.

Ithaca Coffee Stout- An American Stout brewed in collaboration with Ithaca Coffee Company

The Heavy Weight 2X I.P.Arade

In response the shortage of Amarillo and Simcoe hops, we have been furiously brewing pilot batches of our Pedro’s Pale Ale, Pirate Eye PA, and the Heavy Weight 2X IPA. The high gravity of our 2X IPA requires an extended fermentation time, but after patiently waiting, the new recipes are finally coming out on tap. We just tapped the first keg and there are five more waiting. Stop down to give them a try and let us know what you think. We appreciate your feedback!

Hops Shortage

As hoppy beers have increased in popularity, breweries across the US are feeling the impact of a hops shortage that are typically used in American Pale Ales, IPAs and 2X IPAs. What does this mean for Bandwagon Beers? You guessed it, our Pedro’s Pale Ale, Pirate Eye PA, and Heavyweight 2X IPA, are all hurting. Because of our small size, we are not able to get contracts with hops suppliers and can no longer get Amarillo or Simcoe hops which are known for their citrusy, spicy flavor and wonderful aroma. But we aren’t giving up! We have been brewing non-stop to test new recipes with different and new hop varieties. How can you help? Look everywhere for these hops and send us what you find! Or…. come down to the Brew Pub in the next few weeks and let us know what you think of the new recipes. Your feedback is extremely important to us. Let one of the bartenders know, or leave a note at the bar. As always, we appreciate your support. Keep drinking, and we’ll keep brewing!!
